Global Perspectives in Medical Science

This course explores the relationship between human physiology & anatomy and several medical conditions. Students will build their awareness and understanding of how the body functions, looking at the cardiovascular, endocrine, and musculoskeletal systems. Additionally, this course investigates the adaptation of body systems to different environments, such as temperature extremes, mountain altitudes, airplane cabins, hostile conditions of space. During the course, students will be exposed to research that seeks to monitor and promote medical and physiological wellbeing.

Learning Objectives:

  • Experience a variety of learning activities typical of first-year undergraduate study

  • Build relevant knowledge to support future study in the field of Biomedical and Life Sciences

  • Carry out independent research on a given topic

  • Work collaboratively in diverse groups to give a presentation on a specific learning topic

The assessment is designed to reflect students’ performance on university-level assignments. Feedback from tutors will allow students to see how well they have performed and where they can improve. Upon completion of the programme and course assignments, students will receive a certificate of attendance jointly issued by HKU and KCL.
